MTA Team Blokker_1999 Posted August 6, 2005 MTA Team Share Posted August 6, 2005 Today it has been exactly 60 years since the United Stats dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan. At 08.15 local time little boy impacted on Hiroshima. At that time no one knew what the impact of such bomb would be. 70 000 people got killed during the blast. And in the following days that number doubled due to radiation and burn wounds. Hiroshima lost half of it's 350 000 inhabitants due to this bomb. the temperature climbed to +4000°C (+7200°F) and it had a radius of 4.5km (2.8 miles). Not many buildings were left standing. A lot of bodies vaporised. The bombs helped end the second world war. But at what cost. Most of the casualties were not military and even today there is a huge debate over the military role that Hiroshima and Nagasaki had during WWII. We must remember what has happened that day to make sure it will never happen again. There is no winner in a nuclear war. Link to comment
zerb
Sad to see that the picture once had thousands of innocent people living a daily life and seeing their lives ended in a mass destruction. Link to comment
