is there a way i can play over a LAN?

there is no router involved, 2 machines attached to the interweb via a central serve. The server isn't powerful enough for GTA3 so we're trying to get both NC's talking to each other.

Both machines have XP pro with SP2, both using patch 1.1 versions of GTA3 and MTA5

however, when one PC initiates a server. the IP address is the same as if the other computer initates a server...

both report the same... it has me confuzzed...

What reports the same? Are you getting the IP by going to Start > Run, typing cmd and then typing ipconfig into the command prompt window? Remember to use 127.0.0.1 or localhost as the IP when you start the MTA client on the server machine.

MTA i was trying to operate on one Network Computer and connected from the other networked computer.

The server isn't... o r wasn't involved.. does have me thinking though, the server isn't powerful enough to operate GTA3. its only a P2. could i run MTA on there and connect to it... or does the host machine need GTA3 to act as a server?
