Guest
Just a quick question about the server for Blue. We've all seen in the current release of MTA that you're shooting a guy for ages and he doesn't seem to die, or his dead body is moving along the floor, seemingly impervious to bullets. Is the server going to be something like Halo 2 on Xbox Live! where the server makes the decisions as to who is where, who shot who, whether your shot counts, etc? They designed it this way due to lag and network delays, so the server is basically God, and should tell you whether the guy you're shooting at still should be standing, or cutting you down with a chainsaw. [KFC]KungFu
your question is will the game be client side or server side I assume it's still client side like it is now but the new core would make the sync better so you don't miss the something like the "get up" anim and see the guy sliding on the floor... etc. Link to comment
Kent747
for the most part kung is right, it is impossible to make the server completely aware short of rewriting a huge part of GTA, in a normal multiplayer game this can be done because the collision detection, physics, etc code is easily accessible, but for us this is too difficult to spend that much time, so we have to rely on making our netcode very thin, and other prediction models in blue, to help alleviate this.
