Hey, at first thank you very much for your kind words and sorry for the late response. I also read some YouTube comments that many would love to play on the servers again and I still have the Servers of Neon Fun and Neon United laying around. Unfortunately I can't test them at all, because of the problems with Wine / Linux described in my post. I already spent hours and days to try to get it working, but it seems that it's not of priority to have compatibility with Linux anymore. So ye I will still try now and then to finally get my Client set up, but I can't promise anything. If anyone has a working solution to get MTA running on Linux, please tell me, I would be very glad to get that small part of MTA's history up and running again.

Well hello there it's been a while... I just wanted to play around with some old servers I programmed back then (some may remember Neon Fun, United or Carball). The problem is, that I am running MTA through Wine on Linux and it seems broken because of the AC4 detection which indicates the SERIAL CHANGE / SPOOFER message that also other Linux users already posted. I got it at least working on my local server with a bunch of dirty IP address blocking / allowing. But now that I want to upload the scripts to a public server, it just wont work, because I get the error message from above. I already tried all steps listed in the Wiki and other stuff (running local MTA server as root, disabling AC4, blocking all IPs except for the ones I want to join), but none of these worked. Is there any way how this can be worked around or maybe even fixed by the MTA devs? It's really a shame that after playing MTA in Linux for like a decade just fine, it now broke and that there isn't even a workaround, that I could turn my OWN server in allowing me to just join it. Any help is appreciated Kind regards, Tjong

I'm totally backing up Neon's opinion here. I'm spending very very much time in developping complex and very unique scripts that are making our servers the thing they are. Of course I trust the MTA team, but honestly what if someone is able to (and the effort would be totally worth it) to break somehow into the MTA server on which the compiling API is stored? This person would be able to add some dirty stuff there and then collect all server and client script sources that are being used on any MTA server who uses compilation and could steal them. And I'm sorry if I can't be sure that my scripts are only stored uncompiled locally and compiled only on a server I totally trust and if I've to worry about maybe other persons gaining access to my work, then I will stop putting time in MTA and scripting because the risk is just too high that it could be all for nothing which I can't control…

Here's a small tribute from me for all the MTA developers and contributors who ever helped making this awesome mod. Keep doing your great work I know it's not the best quality, but that's the best I could get out of this linux video-editor For germans who can't view it because of the GEMA, do the following (Firefox only): Download: https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/stealthy/ if the Stealthy Icon doesn't show (basicly if you're using Firefox 4.0 or later) right click on the menubar and click "Customize/Anpassen" Search for the red Stealthy Icon and drag it somewhere in your menu bar if you're getting the GEMA-message, just click on the icon when it turns green, reload the page and watch the video click again to toggle the proxie off Best regards Tjong

Does an increase from 250 to 700 possible streamed in objects sound like an improvement? I think so ontopic.: Finally the great Update, a big thanks to everyone who has contributed and to everyone who has made this possible, you guys are just great and I also thought I should make something for it, so I made a video about the evolution of MTA, it's uploading at the moment and I will post the link tomorrow Finally to say: -
of course I already did I just thought that often the best ideas and gamemodes don't get the attention they deserve and so maybe someone knows a video (beside the official ones) which is very impressive...
-
Hai everyone... I'm currently making a video about the development of MTA and want to ask if anyone found a great video or maybe has made one by himself which shows the great aspects of MTA, like the infinite possibilities, awesome gamemodes and the great community... kind regards, Tjong

Uploaded again a new video which shows some of the functions I'm currently working on Link is again in the first post.
-
Well actually, creating custom models takes too much time, which I don't have at the moment... I was able to replace the .dff but creating an own .col didn't work at all and .txd is also a mess So at first I will be heading to code other important functions and maybe deal later with the custom models again...

I uploaded the promised new video, which is showing the new map and the first functions You can find it in the first post.

Wow this looks awesome and also very nice that we got to the 4th place Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!

Well everything from the map is build up with GTA objects and also the bottom is just a (small) piece of object lying somewhere in San Andreas. But the first problem is, that it is way way too small (41 x 31) and as you've to move along into the GTA limitation of 255 objects, a huge object would be perfect. The problem with huge objects is that they look extremely ugly (basically because they're used underwater in San Andreas) and they're mostly just flat, the model I'm currently using has little hills which is way more realistic But both have the same disadvantage: they've edges, which look very unnatural und ugly, a round corner would be better, so I think the best way would be to create an own model which meets all the features Well if you give some advices and maybe tips I would also be very thankful My first question would be which exact tools and programs do I need? Something like 3ds max or is there something alternative? Thanks.

Hi there, I'm currently working again on my NationS gamemode, which I started in 2009, but then lost interest in it. NationS is basically a gamemode which aims at the goal to combine the good ideas of: Minecraft, World Of Warcraft, The Sims, The Settlers, Grand Theft Auto, Battlefield and Command and Conquer The first unique feature it got, is the complete new map, which is generated by a map-generator that uses the normal GTA Objects and creates a huge new landscape which is exact as big as the whole San Andreas Map. The map already got four different landscape types: beach, sea, forest and deep forest and in addition there are several mountains covering the map. As you may guess, a map as big as San Andreas needs alot of objects (actually talking about more than 100.000) and therefore I had to write a work-around, which does unload the MTA Streamer, because loading the whole map into the streamer, just leads to a game-crash, so I wrote a streamer for the streamer (yo dawg...) which I uploaded about a year ago, shows the map generator in a very early state, a new video will be uploaded soon, but in the moment I can't really record anything, as ATI graphic-cards are just a huge huge huge huge mess when using Linux...Anyways here are a few screenshots, showing the new kind of map: I hope you like my idea There is just a problem, as I can't really find good modelids for the bottom that fully meet my desires and I also tried to make my own custom models, but failed very hard (and yes I watched the custom-models-video), so if anyone has a little bit of time and knowledge how to create these custom map objects, I would be really thankful if he could help me out with this problem Videos Tjong

oh what? how were I able to not find that? well then sorry for the unnecessary thread and thanks

As the title tells, I want to know how this function works, as I need it, but can't find it anywhere in the source...

Well as I stated here: http://bugs.mtasa.com/view.php?id=5113 I also got the setPedControlState Bug and didn't make any solutions to this, as it is difficult... My movement algorithm isn't very efficient I think, as it stores every camera movement of the player, it also saves several positions (every 2 seconds) to ensure that the ped is still on the correct way, as GTA SA isn't very exact... I haven't tried aiming yet, but shouldn't be to difficult with "getPedTargetEnd" and "setPedAimTarget" I think

Keep up the great work, maybe in a month when I finished school I will start learning C++ and also contribute something if I can Anyways congratulations to the listing for the 13th best modders, you definetly deserve it...

Wow if Kye would know what good mapper he banned :> The map is just wow, perfect as all your maps Weiter so!

I started an equal project a few months ago but lost interest in it, as it is some kind of complex I also made a GUI and a few videos: Maybe I could add something to your resource, when I got time...

I don't know if it is just me, but the last MTA_SA_unix.exe works now for me, I just installed a new GTA:SA on a USB-stick, then installed MTA also on the usb stick and now everytime I run "wine MTA_SA_unix.exe" it shows the "Load Z:/media/blabla/Grand Theft Auto San Andreas/" box, then I click "Ok" and after 2 seconds it loads the game the FPS are the half I get under XP, but as I get 50-70 under XP, I get 25-35 FPS here, could be better, but HEY! it works! *formatting C:\"

That's exactly the same as what's happening to me, you could use "env WINEDEBUG=fixme-all wine MTA_SA_unix.exe", which would fix the two fix-me's but the game wouldn't load at all, just the message box as explained above, with "Load" and the install path Any idea how to fix this? btw.: here's the dump data I get (located in $GTA_ROOT/MTA/dump/), when running it, maybe a developer could take some eye on it -> http://www.file-upload.eu/download-1631888/client_05102009_0117.dmp.html
