That's a little bit harsh don't you think? Unless you got some divine mind reading power, I highly doubt you can judge wether or not Jaysds1 would be capable of making such a rather simplistic script.

Lolled.

You can't even be arsed to change ur gang to your current project instead of your old project, But you expect others to script your server for you (for free)? Alright....
-
It's more in the way you talk, I'm sorry but it's been bugging me for a while now.
-
Seems like a legit scripter to me :>
-
Are you actually an MTA developer, or do you just like to act like one?
-
I'd greatly appreciate it if you would change your name to something else, since I'm getting alot of comments from my community about your posts since they think that you are me. And BTW, Dwane and Dwayne are pronounced the same way, and seeing as not everyone controls the English language perfectly, people can easily mistake Dwane for Dwayne. EDIT: Thank you.

Why is this Dwane guy impostering me?

This is because when a client has models loaded/sees them, and then you remove them with removeWorldObject, they stay visible untill GTA unloads them, after that they won't return. removeWorldObject just disables that MTA cannot load the model into the world, but if it's already loaded into the world, you will still see it, untill it's unloaded (You go far away from it), after that, it won't reappear. So... In short, if the script is running BEFORE the client actually joins, he won't see the "random" models. Also, about your model limit, I do suggest trying to stay as low as possible with an absolute max of about 100. I'm currently @ 60 models with this project of mine; viewtopic.php?f=93&t=43395 and it's still quite stable (considering the MTA streamer and engineReplace functions are a total mess). I once tried ~140 objects with another project of mine, which turned into a complete bugged mess.

After alot of hard work and resizing (With some help from Stormfox) the filesize ended up at 20,9 MB. With the upcoming compressed download from MTA 1.3.1, this would be a 9,3 MB download (If 7zip will be used, which I suspect they will). 9,3 MB seems like a reasonable download for a server, and makes this map usefull for actual server use if the MTA team fixes up the engineReplace functions (especially COL, It's a disaster currently). I also lit up the models so it doesn't look like the player is standing in the shadow. What remains to be done; Fix up some models (Already a few done). Add in a few more buildings and streets (I plan on recycling some buildings to keep the filesize down).

Good luck, mate. You will probably need it though...

SGC:RPG Live Support Script(Tell me what you think)
Infinate replied to Razerclaus's question in Client
Woof..... BTW, Shouldn't this topic be like in... the scripting section/servers to play on? Also, this has been done before, in a much better and nicer look way by Alpha. viewtopic.php?f=108&t=41565 If you want to advertise your server, please do it in the appropriate section on the forum and include stuff that is actually special instead of showing off a small panel which can be made with GUI editor in 10 minutes tops. -
Callum, I think you are forgetting that a big chunk of the MTA players don't have a 20 Mbit+ connection. Those connections are only common in northern europe. If you count in the fact that the same big chunk of players is from south america/northern africa, you would basicly make your server inaccesable for ~50% of the MTA players. If you then add in the fact that a 250 MB download still takes atleast 10 minutes to download (If the actual player is close to the server and has a nice connection), You'd probably lose another half of those people that are able to join. What you are left with is a server that aims at 25% of the MTA players, Most of which already have many places where they play. I think it would be damn near impossible to get player counts of over 30. But then again, I could be completely wrong.
-
Excuse me, But I don't believe the TS is asking for the vehicles from GTA:VC, but for the actual city. Anyways, I once put VC in MTA, but it produced a nice ~250 MB download. I doubt this is usefull to actually run a server because nobody wants to download 250 MB to join a server.

Thanks for the suggestion, The tool works for 90% of all maps, but the fact that the script gets encrypted just leaves no way of fixing up the script to work with the other 10% of the maps that it doesn't work with. (Plus, the script it produces has a tendency to crash MTA when replacing a large map). And the fact that it automaticly forces a fog at about 300-350 units is just really annoying. But thanks for the suggestion

Hello, A friend of mine got his hands on 3d models of a big chunk of Tokyo city. Now I'm not really too keen on Japan myself (I just have a natural dis gust towards people that go crazy for japanese shit and scream stuff like kawai all day) but I do like putting custom stuff into MTA. (And I'm also no stranger to modelling myself) I already put alot of stuff into MTA, but usually quit those small projects simply due to the fact that I got into a huge fight with the MTA streamer, even though the mods were working perfectly fine in my SP install of GTA:SA. (MTA team, please improve the object streamer and also those nasty engineReplace functions, they seem to be buggy at best) But this time, I'm determed to actually finish the project, and that's why I'm also showing it you guys. So I thought I'd start with putting these models into MTA! so far, a big part of the Akihabara district is in MTA without any real issues. Please remember that all objects are indeed custom and not part of the original San Andreas map. Well, Here are the screens (Please remember that this is far from finished, and I plan on continueing with this project). http://i46.tinypic.com/2yzep14.png http://i50.tinypic.com/34rx5l4.png http://i48.tinypic.com/33wleo3.png http://i49.tinypic.com/2wmzx3n.png http://i48.tinypic.com/2zyh36a.png http://i49.tinypic.com/14mxa52.png (They are quite big, 1600x900, If anyone has any idea to show maybe a sized down version here on the forum, with the ability to click them to go full-size, that would be greatly appreciated) Anyways, I don't think that this project would be practical for use in a server enviorment, for this to happen several core "issues" of MTA have to be solved, One of which would be compressed download, seeing as just this part of Tokyo already ranks up quite a hefty 55 MB. (Luckily it's planned for MTA 1.3.1 ) But what is a bigger issue, is the MTA functions to replace models, they are just an absolute pain to work with when dealing with custom models. What has to be done: -Reduce filesize (Resizing textures, most textures are at idiotic sizes, eg. 2048x2048 for a small billboard, even though the picture is quite low quality). But it's a boring job. -Fix some small bugs with the 3d models. -Prelight the models, Although I kinda like the way they look without any prelighting... I might just turn up the brightness of the COL files to counter any visual glitches due to no prelighting. -Add more streets and buildings.

Any way to get a server with more than 128 slots? And what is the maximum RAM usage & bandwidth a server can use before it gets shut down/turned off?
-
No comments. [23-4-2012 20:55:10] willbriggs: Im leaving SAUR, and as one of the original founders im deciding to pull the plug on the project. There you have it.
-
Will didn't pay the host, I did, and I am still paying for the host. Also, Will did not get kicked, he told us he left and wanted to shut down SAUR, we (the other 2 owners) didn't agree, especially since the one who does the least work (Will) wants to force us to shut down even though Castillo worked his ass off to script SAUR. We decided that we didn't need Will to continue with SAUR, seeing as I am the one who pays all the bills, and Castillo is the one who made 90% of the server. You can find us at our new website, it is still heavily in development though. www.saur-rpg.com Alternativly, you can just stop by sometime ingame!

JiHost.co.uk - where quality is cheaper!
Infinate replied to JiHost.co.uk's topic in Hosting solutions
Good luck, You should've actually hosted @ OVH , not Kimsufi. Kimsufi doesn't allow professional usage (like reselling), they even refer you to OVH (their big brother) when looking for a professional server. -
Personally not a fan of motion blur, but purely judging it by comparing it to how motion blur is supposed to look.... I think you did a great job.

Have you followed these instructions?

Hello, First of all, I really like this tool. I actually spent quite alot of time trying to port maps to resources (manually.. yea..) As soon as I found out about this tool, I started porting some things, but I'm having a few issues. I'm guessing it just has something to do with the config of the tool, which I probably set wrong. 1. I first tested it with a small map mod, a mountain with a road going down the mountain (road existed out of 3 objects). Bringing the total amount of objects to 4. The problem was that the big object (mountain) just went invisible when I neared the top or bottom of the mountain. I'm guessing this has something to do with the streamer distance, but I have yet to figure out how to edit this. Could you maybe explain me what I should edit in the config to fix this? And what the things that I'm editing actually mean? 2. Since this was giving me issues, I thought, I'll just follow the small tut you gave in this topic to port GTA:United Liberty City into a resource. So I did, with all settings default, only the memory extended to 500 MB (There is no shortage of system memory on my PC so I went a little overkill). But this caused a second problem, crashing.... and crashing.... and crashing... Aslong as I fly next to the city looking at the borders, I am having no problem, but as soon as I move closer to the city, MTA just crashes. Now I know this explination is a bit vague, but how can I fix this? I'm guessing something in the converter settings... but what? Anyways, thank you for all your work on this converter, I absolutely love it. P.S. Is there any way to make the converter put out non encrypted client files? I'm guessing most people who want to use it will also have LUAC themselfs to encrypt it.

Yep, issue is still here. I'm just going to look for a way so I can limit the fps to 30 somehow. Or AMD to update their drivers. In the meantime I'll just play MTA with my old PC.

BIOS is already updated to 1.30, It's the first thing I do when I build a new PC. I'll install the driver now.
