Alright, which is better: Wouldn't you want to choose the one that only requires one edit, gives you more features, and achieves similar results? No! That's not the *only* solution for him if he would just listen to what I have to say and do it.
-
No, please follow my advice that I posted above.
-
Is your San Andreas already working in Single Player and have you deleted the [.set] file? If that's so, then uninstall MTA San Andreas RACE and then uninstall/reinstall MTA San Andreaas DM. Also make sure the compatibility options for both applications are turned off.
-
I believe "Run As Administrator" will avoid the UAC message from popping up if it is enabled. If you don't "Run As Administraor", then all you have to do is to choose "Continue" in the UAC dialog box. Clearly you haven't seen the other threads I have made before. You don't have to "Run As Administrator" because you have the option of accepting by "continuing". READ -> http://vistasupport.mvps.org/run_as_administrator.htm (Admins don't have to run as administraotor).

Guy, you are still not getting it! I am an experienced computer user, I know what I am talking about. I have Vista 32-bit as well. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS TO CHANGE THE COMPATIBILITY OF GTA:SA to either "WINDOWS XP" OR "OFF"! Please read the compatibiltiy combinations effect list -> viewtopic.php?f=89&t=21433 All the videos options can be enabled...
-
lol - You don't need to do that since MTA is compatibility with Vista. All you need to do is to make sure that GTA: San Andreas has compatibility set to "Windows XP SP2" or turned off. That is all that was required for this thread. You don't have to. When you install any OS, you are already an admin. This is only necessary if you are using a Standart/Limited user account. Plus I have UAC disabled on my Vista, anyway. OMG! All settings enabled work absolutely fine for me! Makes sense after people do your "Step #2" above. Wrong... Lovely, but the graphics card? Advice: Whenever you want to post accurate solutions, go by the "Destroy & Conquer" method and troubleshoot logically. This will get rid of a lot of unwanted opinions that weren't even the cause of the problem. All that we had to do was to set the comaptibility of San Andreas to either "off" or "Windows XP".
-
Make sure your San Andreas is v1.0. Also, run both San Andreas and MTA:DM in Windows XP SP2 comaptibility (or simply turn it off). After doing that, delete [.set] file. Also, uninstall previous versions of MTA San Andreas because you should realize by now that the MTA programmers didn't change the folder path locations, so there will be severe conflicts.
-
Vista -> Make sure that both MTA:DM and San Andreas are NOT running in compatibility mode! I'd prefer if they are both in XP SP2 compatibility thouggh as this will somewhat can rid of the mouse freeze issue in the main menu. XP -> Make sure that MTA:DM and San Andreas are NOT running in Windows 98 compatibility mode! This wll get your MTA San Andreas Deathmatch client working again! Note: You don't have to uncheck all the "Video" graphics options and you don't have to delete [.set] file! LIST OF VISTA COMPATIBILITY COMBINATIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS! LIST OF WINXP COMPATIBILITY COMBINATIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS! In addition to what I stated above: if you are getting crashes before MTA even launches, then make sure to UNINSTALL previous versions of MTA San Andreas (Race) as well as make sure that your copy of GTA San Andreas is VERSION 1.0!

How to get MTA:SA Client running on Vista!
Ring_of_Fire replied to Ring_of_Fire's topic in DM Client-side
It's because of this - a security feature in Vista that messes up even boot disk creators... http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?show ... 1057349198 -
How to get MTA:SA Client running on Vista!
Ring_of_Fire replied to Ring_of_Fire's topic in DM Client-side
You were right! I realized that some apps used to create boot disks does not work under Vista and I keep getting "Access is Denied" errors! What's even more weirdish that changing the compatibility gives totally different error messages! So, how does one go about disabling this security feature in Vista? Why does it have to think the program is hacking? Is there any way to "mark" the program/executable as safe? I noticed that disabling UAC and running as administrator doesn't seem to help. What I think we have to do is disable some of the Windows Vista services and policies. Update: If I run some programs in SAFE MODE, they work flawlessly unlike when you are not in safe mode! OR you can into MSCONFIG and choose DIAGNOSTIC STARTUP. -
How to get MTA:SA Client running on Vista!
Ring_of_Fire replied to Ring_of_Fire's topic in DM Client-side
I don't see how comes MTAVC works for Vista, and it doesn't support it - but yet not MTASA??? All the MTA staff have to do is to simply edit the CLIENT.DLL with a hex/dll editor or maybe Visual Studio .NET 2008 which comes along with Visual C++. They don't seem to realize that the CLIENT.DLL file for the Map Maker works, and has not have an issue with Vista. It's just a matter of comparing those files to see what the culprit is. Also, try this... save (you don't even have to edit/re-edit it) the CLIENT.DLL file with Notepad and run MTA. It will actually run without any error message. But of course, the coding is messed up and the "Could not load race mod" will appear. But the weirdish-looking-unreadable-to-the-human-eye characters after saving it were still present however and the file size were the SAME! And note the client.dll from the very 1st version of MTASA doesn't work with Vista, nor the fixed editon. -
How to get MTA:SA Client running on Vista!
Ring_of_Fire replied to Ring_of_Fire's topic in DM Client-side
Can someone please tell me what an "Anticheat" is, and exactly where is it located in the MTA folder? The MAP EDITOR works! And guess what? - the map editor has a CLIENT.DLL file. It's a mystery to behold as to what is wrong with the CLIENT.DLL for RACE! It's either the "anticheat" or some missing update for Windows Vista that was on Windows XP. OR... 1. Incompatible version of MSXML 2. No WM9Codecs installed on Vista 3. Incompatible version of .NET framework -
Update your drivers, uninstall/reinstall both MTASA and GTASA, and delete [.set] file.

I think a possible reason for MTASA not working on Vista is because: 1. Incompatible version of MSXML 2. No WM9Codecs installed on Vista 3. Incompatible version of .NET framework -
MTA with GTASA 1.01 (This is NOT a question)
Ring_of_Fire replied to DazzaJay's topic in General discussion
It's simply because the patched files are in the subdirectories for San Andreas already and not in the actual executable. The [.exe] file contains info about what version the game is - this is exactly what MTA only wants to know, and doesn't care if you patched the game or not. But Vice City is a different story as the fixes are located on the executable itself. So you can easily upgrade San Andreas to v1.01. You don't have to use the downgrader, but rather grab the v1.0 executable. As for San Andreas v2.0 (Second Edition), it's possible that using a v1.0 exe can work. If it doesn't, then the executable is incompatible with the v2.0 files and so you will HAVE to use the downgrader! -
Patching your 1.01 or 2.00 version of gta_sa.exe
Ring_of_Fire replied to darkdreamingdan's question in Client
SecuRom is what causing that message. When you downgrade - it downgrades and edits the main executable, and removes files that the "Second Edition" of San Andreas created. You will need to resort to something known as a "crack" which will remove the SR protection, but you are on your own. -
The thread starter complained about error messages showing up. Deleting the Client.dll file fixes this. "Its the same when you installing it and click "Race Core" off That as well too. But make sure you select "Map Editor" though as that will work. If you have problems with the MTA Login Center, download and extract the "MSVCP71.DLL" file.

How to get MTA:SA Client running on Vista!
Ring_of_Fire replied to Ring_of_Fire's topic in DM Client-side
It's a solution to make the MTA San Andreas program itself work, but not the Race mod. You need to also do this to make the MAP MAKER work! -
Read -> viewtopic.php?f=61&t=20515 (Vista solutions posted) If you mean that you still got the "MSVCP71.DLL" error message, that is also normal to occur on even Windows XP. However, this will not affect MTAVC/SA from loading flawlessly. You will be able to still play online.

Your computer can be bottlenecked (lag) anywhere in the game at any time. If you did Nitro in a smoky or shaderific area, it will lag. If you updated your drivers yesterday to try and fix the problem, delete [.set] file! Also, be sure the set everything in "ForceWare Control Panel" to their factory defaults (application preference). After doing that, make sure the settings you use in San Andreas display setup are suited for your computer. Turn off AA-AF, lower the draw distance, and make sure the "Visual FX Quality" is MEDIUM or LOW. Still not working out? Then your problem is normal for your computer. Upgrade to a dual-core CPU, a faster hard drive, more RAM, etc.
-
This has been said to many people: "Maybe it is NORMAL!" Anyway, it looks like you are getting "input lag" since your graphics card can't render the Nitro graphical effects very well. Please tell us your graphics card.

Go here viewtopic.php?f=61&t=15151 to download the downgrade utility. You could just reinstall the game too ya know? -
If your San Andreas is already working in single player, try uninstalling/reinstalling MTA Race 1.1.1 with the "Server" option unchecked during the setup. Now, you must have only v1.0 and not v1.01/v2.0.

That's a different problem. Is your San Andreas working in single player? If yes, then make sure you are using v1.0 and not v1.01/v2.0
