ok thanks i sorted the problem but now i ahve another one! my friend was at my house earlier when we were trying to set one up. we set the server up on pc 2 and then tried to get onto it on pc 1 which doesnt work! but he went home and did the same and the computer he did the server on he could get onto on the internet and i could from my house, but he couldnt get onto the server from his other pc. so i thought ill just do a server on my pc in my room instead bt as you can guess that will not start up as the grey bar along the top does not appear and this pc has no firewall! any suggestions on that?

The ip for pc 1 (my room) is local:192.168.0.145 external:217.42.20.201 The ip for pc 2 (my parents) is local 192.168.0.1 external is the same as pc 1 The external ip i got from http://www.whatismyip.com and it is the same for both of them, not sure if that should be right and windows firewall is only on pc 2 and i hadnt disabled it ill try that! but on pc 1 i ahve no firewall the only protection is avg 7.1 anti virus and on pc2 there is norton 2005 cheers 4 the reply

Hello! I realli wanna start a server on mta! On every other game i have had including this i have not been able to make dedicated servers. At my house i have my pc (1) and my parents pc (2). pc 2 is the one with the internet connection and pc 1 is linked to this pc via a cross over wire. this is how i get internet in my room and i can get onto servers and do everythin on pc 1 just like it connect straight into the internet. on pc 2 i am connected through a 512k broadband connection through a speedtouch 330 usb ppp modem. this is shared over the network. ok i made a server on pc 2 and opened all the ports and i can see my server in the list but it says unscanned, the ping is 9999 and i cannot get onto it. if i type my local ip address into quick connect (192.168.0.1) and port 22003 i can get onto it. what is the problem? i have tried my external ip adress and it does not work! plus in the list it shows the ip as 217.42.20.201:22126. but this 22126 is for the ase. i tried disableing this and it still shows up on the list and the ip is the same! someone please help i am dying to get a server running! oh and btw the pc i am running the server on (2) is too slow to run sa so i am trying to get onto the server on pc 1 thanks in advance for any help!
