Playing MTA without a disc?!

Sodia

Question

G'morning,

Few weeks ago a friend of mine legally downloaded GTA San Andreas (she paid for it). But now she wants to play MTA with me, but is it even possible without a disc? And how? Can you guys explain it for me so we can play MTA together?

I made a same topic few weeks ago, but it doesn't work as I ain't got the GTA SA Map.

Anyway, thanks!

With kind regards,

Phor

Just install GTASA, then install MTA:SA. The installer should automatically make adjustments for you.

It doesn't, when she tries to download MTA:SA it says there's no map so I tried to find it by myself but I couldn't find it either.

So here are two of my questions..

1. Where's the map located (when it's LEGALLY downloaded)?

2. Is it even possible to play MTA:SA when you downloaded GTA:SA LEGALLY)

With kind regards,

phor

Yes, MTA:SA works fine with many digital editions of GTASA (as in, the ones 'without a disc'). Not sure about the Windows Store version, but the major ones are supported or will be automatically adjusted by the installer.

There is no map? What do you mean exactly? Do you experience something like this?

If you host the server yourself, you need to start a gamemode before you can play. Type 'start play' in the server console then connect to your server.

These articles will give you more information regarding starting other gamemodes:

Alternatively, you can try connecting to an online server using the Server Browser.

If that is not what you meant, please post a screenshot of the exact problem you are having.

Well, what I meant is that I can't find the map when I want to install MTA:SA to my PC. Check the screenshot (I'll translate it): http://prntscr.com/9h62wi

"Select MAP where MTA:SA v1.5.1. has to be installed."

The problem is, I don't have a single map of GTA:SA..

Okay, looks like one of the lines for the Dutch translation was duplicated by a mistake. This line could actually mean one of the two messages:

Could not find GTA:SA installed at $GTA_DIR
Are you sure you want to continue ?

or

Choose the folder in which to install ${PRODUCT_NAME_NO_VER} ${PRODUCT_VERSION}

If you choose English as the installer language, you should be able to see the correct message.

Anyway, I am guessing it is the first message that gets triggered for you. MTA:SA obviously requires the base game to be installed. If you are seeing this message, you can try to either manually select the location for GTASA install, or press 'OK' and select the GTASA location when you first run MTA:SA.

If that is not it, make sure to specify a correct path where MTA:SA will be installed.

If neither of the solutions work for you, please run our MTADiag app and post the log URL you receive and I will try to see what is wrong with your setup or GTASA install.

1. Yes. But you need to have the GTASA game installed in order to play MTA:SA. It does not matter if your copy of GTASA is retail (with a disc) or digital (without a disc).

2a. Yes, you install it the same way as you would if you had a disc copy. First install GTASA, then install MTA:SA. If you are getting an error which you have mentioned earlier while installing MTA:SA, see my post above.

If you are unsure about your digital copy of GTA:SA, you can always buy the Steam version which works great with MTA:SA and is currently on sale till 4th of January:
