Wampp/Xampp localhost server web

Hi, out of general curiosity I've noticed that you can host a web-server via Wampp/Xampp. So I like challenges, when I seen it, I tried to do it. However, I've followed tutorials on Youtube trying to do it along with restarting/closing the applications. But even then, when I type "localhost" into my address bar, it brings me to the Xampp page. I've setup everything correctly but still nothing is working... help!?

P.S. I'm not even sure if this is in the correct section.

If http://localhost redirects you to xampp's home page then it's working.
