Guest
I get disconnected and my computer crashes as soon as I connect. How can I fix this? - I have the proper specs - I have windows 98 - I am running the latest version of vice city (1.1) - I am running v3.0b of MTA Link to comment
orappa
It's possible to get MTA working on 98, but there would be loads of problems and you'd never get a proper game. MTA works best on XP / 2000. However, the team have said that theoretically, the new 0.4 core (NOT MTA 0.4 - that uses the 0.3 core) will support Windows 98. But by then, 98 will probably be obsolete. If you have the specs to run GTA, you'll have the specs to run XP, so I thoroughly recommend you "acquire" it. Link to comment
Guest
XP sucks, but if you say it works on 2000, I could consider upgrading. I have the software, it's just that I've been using 98 since... '98. It's hard to give up an OS after 6 years of using it, feeling it, adapting to it, mastering every little detail. I once used an XP computer. Schools like to use 'em, for some reason. The graphics suck, and the start menu is too fugly. SO... can I upgrade to windows 2000 without losing everything I have installed on 98? If it's quick and painless without losing any data, I'll consider it so that I can end this pain of not being able to play MTA and Steam. Link to comment

(Display properties > Themes > Windows Classic) There are upgrade versions of 2000 from 98, but as it's made by Microsoft and intended for businesses... *looks for cash-register sound effect* But there's always good old eBay.
