MTA Team jhxp Posted September 3, 2013 MTA Team Share Posted September 3, 2013 It all depends on the gamemode you wish to run on your server. If your connection has 8 megabits (which is one megabyte) per second for both upload (which matters the most) and download speeds, then you can start with an 80 player slots server. You can verify the actual speed of your connection at http://www.speedtest.net . If your server is full and no one experiences lags or choppy gameplay, then you can try to increase the number of slots to 100 and check again. If on the other hand your server starts to lag a bit, you should decrease the number of slots to 60, then check again. Rinse and repeat until you find the good amount of slots your server can handle. If you only have something like 1 megabit (128 kilobytes) of upload, you can try setting the server to 16 slots and see if it runs okay when the server is full. Link to comment
