MTA Logitech Gamepad - Stick binding issues

Dicatto

Question

I'm having some issues getting MTA to recognize the second analog stick of my gamepad. I want the left stick to control movement and the right stick to control the camera view just like I have in regular GTA:SA. It sees the left stick and the d-pad bot not the right stick. Tried unbinding everything, tried xpadder, and searched the forums but nothing helped. I can see the right stick responding in xpadder outside the game but when I try to bind it in-game it just doesn't want to accept it. Any suggestions or workarounds for this? Has someone gotten both sticks to work?

I could but I'm not sure what you're hoping to see. The right stick won't do anything because MTA doesn't recognize the right stick when I try to bind it. Like I click on the right stick bind option and when I move my right stick to bind it nothing happens, left stick it will bind on either left or right stick option. But I need both sticks, left for steering/walking and right for camera rotation. This works perfectly fine on starting gta_sa.exe.

Ok, please install this patch: https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.3.1-rc ... 130107.exe

Start MTA and open the settings menu, select the 'Advanced' tab, and choose '#0000 Joystick' from the 'Debug setting' list.

Then click on OK.

You should now see a bunch of text in the top left.

Open settings again and try to bind the joystick axes.

Please make a video of you doing this. I need to see the settings menu and the text in the top left.

It was the same effect, as I went to bind the right stick axis' using my right stick nothing happened and I had to hit ESC. But hopefully you can gain something by this video. I did some tinkering around again with swap joysticks. Left and right stick were swapped and so when I went back in MTA I moved the right stick around and MTA responded by moving the axis numbers. Unfortunately when I went to bind right stick with the swapped stick it still came up as Z axis which is the left stick.

And also in the swap mode the left stick isn't being recognized. So it seems that MTA doesn't know how to handle two different axis on my controller. What do you think?

Ok, please do this:

* Change MTA to be Windowed (Settings->Video->Windowed) and restart

* Then: Settings->Advanced->Debug setting->#0000 Joystick->OK

* Launch the 'Joystick Sample' program you downloaded previously (https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/files/Joystick.exe)

* Position the Joystick Sample window so it is next the the MTA window

* Make a video recording of the following:

  • Clicking back and forth between the Joystick Sample window and MTA, while moving the right stick
