djaa2807
Is there a way to prevent the client from recovering the downloaded .map files? For example.. i created a very nice stunts map for my server.. and i dont want other people to use this map on their server.. How do i protect the .map file from clients recovering it in their downloaded resource dir? Link to comment
Ren_712
Are map files stored on clients hdd ? I think not... or am i still drunk ? Link to comment
Callum
As far as I know, all map files are downloaded into the client's RAM, and aren't physically stored anywhere on their HDD. Link to comment
djaa2807
Oh thanks a lot for your replies.. I think i was drunk when i posted I made a confusion between native .map files and txd/dff based map files.. Link to comment
Ren_712
TXD/DFF's are quite heavy. It would be troublesome for the clients to download models on every connection. Their coordinates are still in the .map file. The clientside script replacing the objects can be compiled. If you really want you could (i think) - delete the files after they have been applied / or on disconnect (can anyone confirm this ? I can't tell cause i haven't done that.) Link to comment
qaisjp
its possible, but unethical. it is still possible to get the map from the memory, right? Link to comment
