Use of Client handling.cfg in MTA 1.1

skyhawkability

Question

5 of us are almost complete in the building of a new DM server.

we would like your professional advice on how to allow client handling.cfg files in the new 1.1 version, just like we could in the older 1.0.5 version, without having to use the in-game handling editor (hedit).

we want to allow the players to use their handling.cfg files (handling lines) in the game like they could in the 1.0.5 Version.

any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

we used to modify our mtaserver.cfg file to allow client handling files (old 1.0 version). the problem is that in the new 1.1 version, even modifying the 1.1 files will not allow the use of client handling lines (we do not want to use the in game hedit). (the client puts his modified handling.cfg file in and it does not work) i read somewhere where they planned on allowing server owners to script the allowing of client handling lines into 1.1 but they didn't think they would get this done in time for the release of the new 1.1 version. i have asked Solidsnake14 for help but got no reply (guess he does not want to make money like he states in his posts). i would gladly pay someone, for a script, that will allow our clients to use their own handling.cfg (modified lines) file in our new 1.1 server.

i have tried disabling ALL verify client settings and ALL anti-cheats completely and at the same time. even with both of those turned completely off, any handling.cfg files that are modded in any way by a player are still not working in the server. i do wish to thank you kindly for your suggestion though and appreciate it very much. our players do not want to use the hedit in game. they want the ease of just transferring their present handling.cfg file into the new 1.1 version. as we are running a DM/FR server, when they go [FR] to freeroam and play with their highly modded vehicles, they have many vehicles modded, and do not want to do all of them 1 at a time in game using hedit. i really wish they would have allowed both the old way of using modified handling.cfg files and the hedit options in the newer version when they made it. again, i really appreciate your comments and suggestions. thank you!

There is support in hedit to import a line of handling like "1600.0 3550.0 2.0 0.0 0.0 -0.5 70 0.70 0.8 0.52 5 260.0 15.0 2.0 4 P 10 0.60 0 35.0 1.0 0.09 0.0 0.30 -0.10 0.35 0.0 0.26 0.14 19000 40000004 00000004 0 3 0" is this similar?

You'll want to contact Remi-X to see if he's interested in adding support to import a handling.cfg

There is a serverside handling.cfg importer already. So you're able to import one handling.cfg. The reason why it wasn't clientside supported yet, is because the setVehicleHandling functions only exists serverside. So, when I do this clientside, I have to send the whole handling.cfg save to the server and then call hundreds of setVehicleHandling.

It would be cool indeed, but I'm affraid this will cause major problems on bigger servers. For instance, big laggspikes when someone imports a handling.cfg, or import-flooders.

Serverside its easy, put a handling.cfg file in the root of hedit. Then, typ the following in the console:

loadcfg

(hedit is now loading the handling.cfg into the memory)

importcfg

(hedit will now save that memory to a xml file)

loaddefaults

(This will load all handling entries of the XML file onto vehicles)

That's all I can help you for now. Im busy with the beta version of hedit, I might add a few possibilities for your needs if it turns out well. Otherwise, the import function which Arran mentioned should do fine. Import, save, for all vehicles you really want.

First of all i would like to thank Remi-X for his "possible considerations" in allowing entire client handling files to be imported into the hedit program, and to diegofkda, for his suggestion that version 1.1.2 allow the use of client handling files.

As an admin and a gang leader in our old server, i started a police gang that would accept and train any player from anywhere in the world. i spent countless hours in translators. i ended up being the first and only international/interlingual gang in that server. My men are all very devoted to me for giving them this opportunity. Our police gang represents 35 countries and my men speak 28 different languages.

We all decided to leave this server when we found out it was going to be a RP/DM server in their move to the new 1.1 version, and the fact that we would no longer be able to use our handling files in the new version.

57 players are now counting on me, to help create a server with my friends, that best duplicates the way the old server we played at used to be (DM/FR). sad to say, i had to tell them all that at the present moment, we will not be able to experience the wonderful changes in the new 1.1 version, and for the time being, we will all have to play in an older 1.0.5 server, until such a time comes, that their wish to have their handling lines file be able to be used in the newer 1.1 version comes true.

as i have always been a true representative of the players, i plead with you that either entire client handling files be allowed to be imported in the hedit program, or (better yet), to allow client handling files to be able to be used in the newer 1.1.2 version. Again, i wish to thank all of you for your very kind thoughts/comments/suggestions/considerations in this matter...

Please help me in making these players wishes come true.

sincerely;

sky (jeffrey)

diegofkda: Nice idea, but forget it. The reason that custimized handling.cfg's wont work is because of the handling functions and you need to rewrite the whole handling manager to remove dependencies. I see this even hardly happening for 1.2, although 1.2 has quite a bigger chance for a better handling manager.
