Well. I've been searching for a good host, for the server im planning to make. And guess what? When everything goes fine, something have to fuck with you. I Was searching for a host that , has a good suport, had almost no DOWNTIMES, didn't put a stupid tag in your name... So, i wasn't searching for serverffs by the way

I Decided to host by my self, in the end of the year im going to buy an used Dell PowerEdge SC1425. Here goes the specs:

Dual 3.2GHz Xeon 1MB L2 Cache

UBUNTU 11.04

2GB DDR2 (4x 512MB)

80GB HD

for $100 USD

So here goes the questions:

- Is it good for a MTA server

- Is the price good for the configs

- How many players i can have

- Will it blend?

and im also planning to buy a 120 megabit internet ( 15 mb ). Will it lag with the quantity of players? Do any of you guys have a better idea?

The hardware will be fine, you just need to make sure you can afford it. What is the bandwidth allowance per month? You won't need much unless you plan on having 100+ players and if you think you could hit 200+ then you'll need some serious bandwidth. Cheapest place to get that is OVH's kimsufi brand but they only sell to some countries right now like http://kimsufi.co.uk

Tip: read reviews about the host and research as much as possible to make sure the server you're getting is something you won't regret.

Thanks, im planing to get a dedicated, of a vps that suports gaming server. Any ideas? And please, not in £, its 3x more expensive where i live, i prefere in dollars, that is 1,6x more expensive

I have the same problem as you (but not as bad) because the hosts in the UK are very expensive but luckily there is the cheap host in France that I use.

If there are no good hosts in Brazil and none in other parts of South America? You'll want to look for one in North America.

Yeah, i was also searching for an dedicated host, so i host the server and the site. -1 Problem

I Found some host called x10hosting, but idk if its safe... Im Also searching for an host that accept payments that arent paypal or credit card, because im 15. Well, this is really hard, but i bet when you run your server, and see it is running allright, you feel awesome right

When we were breaking our player peaks it felt amazing, and when we broke an actual MTA record (254 players on 1 server) it was magical. But now we've reached the ceiling there isn't anything else to feel amazing about, just feel bad about and we also have had many problems keeping the server even online when there are no lifers D/DoSing the server and so on.

With great success, comes great haters.

I actually see no point on DDosing a server, is useless.... if the owner is not stupid, he'll keep putting it up again.

Or like now, someone impostering me, insulting my friends and so on, I have no idea what I'd to whoever the imposter is.

That would work I suppose but not recommended for a popular (80+ players regularly) because the resources that are allocated to your server will be limited and per slot its terrible value for money.

Total price: 27.81 GBP (128 player server)

Yet you can get a kimsufi cheap dedicated server for about 17 GBP and host a lot more than a gameserver!

Hm. Im thinking about get serverffs, i know, not one of the bests, buts that what i can get now. Maybe with time, and donations ( like 2 years later ) i will get a better host, and after all, im just starting ^^
