Crashing on load for both MTA and SA [Req'd details incl.]

Question

Dethbullet I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce and I got egg noodles and ketchup. I'm an average nobody.

Hey guys,

I've been on my Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit for a while now and haven't played GTA since I first upgraded to it.

The problem I am having is every time - without fail - this message is shown:

I have checked other topics (including the initial topic) and tried everything. This included:

  • Deleting the settings file
  • "Deleting" the D3D9.dll file (it wasn't there)
  • Updating my DirectX (was already at the newest)
  • Un-installing MTA, then reinstalling with admin privileges
  • Installing the patch with admin privileges
  • Setting the GTA San Andreas folder to allow complete modification and "run as administrator" for both gta_sa.exe and MTA.
  • Setting compatibility mode to Windows XP (for both MTA and GTA)
  • Converted the gta_sa.exe to v1.0
