Debian 5 64 bit.

When I try to run I get this error :

./mta-server: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory 

I tried to install libpcre with apt-get install libprce3 but it don't help.

I installed

apt-get install ia32-libs 

but still getting error :

./mta-server: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

If you are setting this up on dedi/VPS i suggest you to reinstall whole system (don't know what you have done before) - and then on clean system just follow step-by-step through WHOLE this tutorial until the end.

As I mentioned in the tutorial, you need to install any libraries into the 32 bit environment. A simple installation through apt-get won't suffice, since it will install this in your normal 64 bit environment using 64 bit lib files.

I didn't test this out, but you should be getting it from here:

http://packages.debian.org/de/lenny/libpcre3

Choose the i386 package!

Then do the "Installing additional libraries" step from the tutorial with it.

That should do it.

Yes, but the ia32 environments needs the 32 bit libraries.

But the strange thing is that he even has to do it. I already have the package installed within the env.

Not that he has installed an older version of ia32-libs ...

well, each dedi/vps hosting companies are using a bit different operating system images, bit customized.. one is pure-clean, one have something more, one is full of all libraries for every-day use
