irregularcraig Posted March 23, 2009 Share Posted March 23, 2009 Hi guys, I've been getting the whole 'halting after the first splash screen' problem. Now I'm running San Andreas on Windows XP service pack 2 via boot camp on my Macbook OSX, and using MTASAdm_v1.0-dp2.3. The game runs fine in single player before and after installing the MTA SA client and i'm also able to start a MTA server. So after checking the faqs, i tried the possible fixes they had listed for "Halt after MTA splash screen" and "Crash after MTA splash screen", (with the exception of "If you use nVidia GeForce, try turning off nView Desktop Manager before starting MTA", as although i'm pretty sure the macbook IS using a nVidia based graphics card, there is no desktop manager, and turning off the Intel media graphics accelerator yielded no responce). Experimenting with different combinations of the fixes and downloading the Directx runtime files has proved fruitless. Google has also been of no use (either no other boot camp user has had this problem, or no one has really wanted to play using xp on a mac it would seem). So whilst i understand there may not be much that can be said or done, other than to suggest jacking it in and trying to find a pc to play it on, I thought i would put a thread up on here to see if there were any Mac savvy peeps or other boot camp users that may be able to shed some light on the problem. Anyway enough of the life story, any help would be much appreciated so i can come kill you online as soon as possible Link to comment
MTA Team jhxp Posted March 23, 2009 MTA Team Share Posted March 23, 2009 Do you get any debug files created in your GTASA\MTA\dumps directory when this happens? Also, what about core.log / cegui.log / logfile.txt files - any errors in them? Link to comment
irregularcraig Posted March 24, 2009 Author Share Posted March 24, 2009 Thanks for the quick response, there's a whole bunch of dmp files in the dumps directory, now starting with what I'm assuming is the core.log there are multiple entries of: ** -- Unhandled exception -- ** Time = Mon Mar 23 18:28:27 2009 Module = C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas\mta\multiplayer_sa.dll Code = 0xC0000005 Offset = 0x0023373A EAX=00000000 EBX=00000006 ECX=00000001 EDX=00000006 ESI=0012F814 EDI=00000000 EBP=00000000 ESP=0012F804 EIP=0023373A FLG=00010203 CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000 ** -- End of unhandled exception -- ** And then in the logfile: [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CClientVariables::CClientVariables [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CCommands::CCommands [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CCore::CCore [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CDirect3DHookManager::CDirect3DHookManager [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CDirectInputHookManager::CDirectInputHookManager [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CMessageLoopHook::CMessageLoopHook [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CSetCursorPosHook::CSetCursorPosHook [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CDirectInputHook8::CDirectInputHook8 [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CDirect3DHook8::CDirect3DHook8 [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # CDirect3DHook9::CDirect3DHook9 [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:45 # Direct3D9 hook applied [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:46 # DirectInput8 ANSI Interface Created. [DEBUG EVENT] 03-23-2009 @ 22:05:46 # Multiplayer loaded. I can't seem to open the cegui.log file, mainly because i don't know what to actually open it with, tried notepad of course to get a lovely 'not responding'. Feeling pretty stupid for not checking the mtasa folder now to look for error reports, is there anything notable in the text above? Link to comment
MTA Team jhxp Posted March 24, 2009 MTA Team Share Posted March 24, 2009 Is the cegui.log file so big that notepad crashes on it? Well anyway, yes, you can see that crashes are happening in the multiplayer_sa.dll module for some reason. Logfile below implies that it crashes either while loading multiplayer_sa.dll, or just after it, as the next entry in there would be related with Network module. Maybe your mtasa install is broken? Try reinstalling it. If not, maybe someone more skilled could help you if you'd upload the most recent .dmp file (compressed into a zip), which you can find in MTA\dumps folder as an attachment to the post. irregularcraig Posted March 25, 2009 Author Share Posted March 25, 2009 I've just done the 3rd clean reinstall of San Andreas and MTASA, only this time i forgot to apply the no cd patch i use for the game and ran it off the disc instead... guess what? Works fine MTASA loads without problems or lag, sorry for wasting your time jhxp and thanks for the help again. Link to comment
