Need some help, steam version

I got this off of steam, the game itself works fine, and I can install and get on the MTA, and even chat, but when I pick "start game" it gives me a "cannot detect version, aborting" error and then a "invalid executable" error.

I know this has been posted already, but any help is really needed. Thanks.
