GTA 3 crashes back to desktop when i join a server

Ok. i hope some of you people out there can help with this?

I run mta np. then i find a server click join...thats fine ok. now i click start game..GTA3 starts ok rockstar screen comes up ok i hit enter to next screen and GTA3 music start now! when i hit enter again to start game in multi player it crashes back to desktop every time? little sad with this been all through here looking for a fix and nothing can any1 help ty

p.s my game has all mods deleted and im not useing NO CD crack game is 100% original ......1 more thing i dont have the welcome message in MTA it just comes up a HTML code.........hope some of this helps you guy's thx again in advance...

have your patched your gta3 to 1.1 ? i belive you need 1.1 to play gta3, also remember to play the game AT LEAST once in single player before trying to play it online
