Guest
Alright, We'll im new here, and I had a REALLY slow computer when it came to running this game, I still have to run it on Low quality, No seeing distance and the smallest screen setup. But this is how I changed my computers settings to increase its performance. I wrote this small tutorial with the help of 3 System Restores . THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR WINDOWS XP ONLY. Step 1: Under stand what makes a computer slow. - What is making your computer run slower than possible? Alot of this has to do with visual things. The Blue start bar, this can cause your CPU to run slow. The shadow under your pointer, images behind folders, unneeded programs running. There are MANY things that can cause a slow computer. The animation when windows is minimizing and bringing programs up, fade or sliding menus into view, or fading out menu items after clicking, shadows under menus, sliding task bar buttons, smooth edges of screen fonts. All of these can slow a computer down. The best way to increase your computers performance, without installing hardware, is to disable these. Instructions: Go into... Control panel>System>Advanced> You should see "performance" below this is some text, to the right of this is a "settings" button. After you click this, you will see about 15 check boxes. Uncheck everyone of these, click apply, and Ok. Give your computer about 15 seconds to apply these, it wont look pretty, but its well worth it. Step 2: Go into - Start>Run>Msconfig Then go to the tab, Services. Click "Hide all Microsoft applications", then disable all. THIS WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR PC. Suggestion: Annoying programs popping up? You dont want them to? STOP THEM! Go to the Startup tab, and deselect the programs you dont want starting up. After this click apply, close, restart. And walla Thats it. Your computer, WILL work faster. Im not saying it might, im guaranteeing it will. And if it dosent, I will drop my desk top on my testies. Link to comment
