Guest
A simple question. I don't want to hear any "it should work" bullshit, if you have gotten LAN play to work (with at least 2 seperate PC's) please post here. A simple 'yes' would suffice. If so, WTF am I doing wrong? PC #1 (192.168.0.1) -start dedicated server -join dedicated server on same machine (using localhost, 127.0.0.1) -choose 'start game' in gta3 -alt+tab out -send game request PC #2 (192.168.0.2) -join PC #1 server -choose 'start game' -send game request Now that should work right? ASE is disabled. Chatting works. We just can't see each other in the game. The dedicated server says something about 'connecting from the same ip' when PC #2 joins, which is obviously wrong. On a side note, if this is 'beta' software than It should have a full feature set and simply need testing for bugs. This really should be labelled an alpha version. Link to comment
Guest
I've got the same problem I can see another player in the game if I go to the dot on the map, but I've seen no evidence that another person is actually controlling him heh. the other player has a tendancy to run in circles/drive in circles/run endlessly into the wall. I can't seem to kill him either =\ Link to comment
vegetto34
Um, I've tested it at our last LAN party just yesturday and I saw my friend's just fine... although when they moved at THEIR PC I saw them move on MY PC about 3 seconds later. It ran smoothly otherwise. Link to comment
Guest
Thanks for your input guys. It seems the server evaluates 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 as the same IP. Changing the second PC's IP to 192.168.0.99 fixed it. Yeah the lag is really bad, a couple of seconds delay here too. Hmmm are the player positions synchonised like every 10 seconds? Try to jump on top of another players car and you'll see what I mean. Link to comment
