Anybody gonna shut the f*ck up and let them finish MTA SA DM
Impervium replied to a topic in General discussion
Nice way to bounce around my question. Now lets try instead of telling me "things seem to pop up frequently", tell me what at least one of these things are. I dont care if it has just been fixed, or if its still a bug, or whatever, these things cant be a state secret. Its not like anyone is going to steal your bug. And I've never asked for any information about how to fix it, in case youre worried the guys at SAMP may steal it. (They make things happen.. actually..) So, lets see it, whats one of these new things that seem to "pop up frequently"? Its a simple question, and I dont think it'll be answered. Its not like I'm asking for a release date, nor a "status report", simply asked for one of the "new things that seems to pop up frequently". So, when you go on personal attack on me, heres one for you: You bounce around my question, and refer me to IRC, where most people here wont read what is said (cuz the ones that are on IRC are mostly idling). Is that what you've been spending the last 3 years learning? Or learning programming language? -

I can guarentee you this project is neither dead or old and defeated, it's probably the most active project on the GTA scene, we have people working around the clock, spending most of their free time aiming towards a release. Some of the developers have dedicated SO much time and effort to this you wouldn't believe.. You need to learn some manners and give respect where it's due. To you this is just another game to play, theres lots of them out there, take a second and imagine how much we want the public to enjoy this. I believe the people behind SAMP wants people to enjoy it about a couple years more then you want them to. (not sure when they released the first, but think about it.) I've got my manners. I consider myself rather polite, a personal attack is uncalled for. I dont say you (as a person) are a bastard for not following my standard. I'm saying the MTA Team (for the record, that includes you), are telling people over and over "we're making progress" "we want the game out, probably more then you want it out" "its out soon", and seems to be stringing people along, for no good reason. (Give me a reason?) So Now that we have a MTA Team member here, tell me about the progress and whats left. Or is that state secrets? At least recently I've not seen any member of the MTA team post anything about the progress spesific. All just say the same. "Its out soon" Its like you're sitting on the cure for cancer and you dont want anyone to beat you to it, so you wont tell anyone else, cuz they might steal it. -

I've told them to make progress log. I dont remember what exactly the answer were, and I dont bother checking right now (maybe later). But as I recall, "the pictures are enough proof things are happening". "there will be a release soon" "stfu and stop whining" You know, I'm not an idiot. I know I'm whining, but when you take honor/glory for making something, you need to pay for that honor/glory, by making results. Practically, by saying "we, the (glorious) MTA Team, are making a MTA for SA, in type of DM", you've basically made promises to the community, and whining is to be expected when the promises are not kept. The glory is allready taken, by saying you'll make it, this puts developers in debt. I'd rather "we'll see if we can make it." Yea, it wouldnt get as many people in the community, but nobody could hold anyone accountable for anything that isnt released, if that was to be the case. I actually thought SA:Race was a rather temporary thing, but to me it seems like it turned into their "flagship" keeping them from sinking (loosing the community). -

Well the comments you make aren't taken lightly. If you wanted them to start showing results, and start being more specific about their progress, bug fixing, and updates, then why didn't you just say so? Oh I have, do I need to find the quote? -
Jezez. As I said in another topic..: Nobody expects a bug-free verision. And I'm totally sure, that if you've spent all this time fixing bugs instead of adding features useless to the actual gameplay, you would probably have debugged every windows OS on the market by now. A few short sentances: SAMP is out. It may crash every 2 minutes here. It was probably alot worse when it came out in the beginning, I would'nt know. SAMP is fun. Get the drill? Now tell me SA:MTA:DM isnt stable enough to last 2 minutes of gameplay. I'd play it if it was, and I believe most others who has'nt completely lost hope, would as well.

I've played SAMP a bit, and you know, the game crashes lots of times, and even the serverclient does not like when I try to costumize the size of the colums in the server list, and automatically goes to minimum size so I cant read anything but the very start of what it says. I might play for 2 minutes, and it crashes. But to me, its still a game, and I actually apricciate the guys behind SAMP more then the people behind SA:MTA:DM, cuz they actually released something, knowing it wasnt perfect, and has updated it ever since, using the community to report bugs to them. To say that it does'nt bother me that the game crashes alot, would be a lie, but I still love to play it. In the beginning I didnt realise there actually was an alternative to SA:MTA:DM, but actually, SAMP is great! If there isnt a beta of MTA:SA:DM soon, the little that still have faith (and those who suck up, hoping to get into a "semi-beta" release if thats the case), people will find other things to do. The new GTA is out soon, at least the people behind SAMP didnt make empty talk. I've said this before, even last summer, I sat here about the same time, hoping that itd be out before summer vacation was over, and I checked the forums and there was talk about an upcoming release. A year has passed, and nothing. Alot of more functions has come, and screenshot of today "wohoo disneyland at night". Jezez.. Who the fuck cares, people want to play. At least you've finally figured out that people needs more then flashy pictures to keep the little faith they have, so you're planning to make a "progress log" of some sort. "Programming takes time", sounds like youre making your own OS. Keep smoothing it over, the lack of progress dissapoints me. Keep adding functions, and when its finally in beta, it'll be last years news. Its already yesterdays news. And for those who asks why I'm complaining in every reply or post I've made since I registered.. I've actually given any positive thought or reasonable doubt I could give in the several years. I've been following the progress, reading the msgboards, and whatever I wanted answers for, or to reply to, was already there. Nobody cares about another fucking "great job with a good progress but when is it out?" out of a 100 others. When I made this account on the forum, I was fed up with empty promises and didnt know about SAMP. (THANK GOD FOR SAMP) Bottom line.. Either stop making promises about progress, that is never followed through, and/or admit this project is dead and shut it down and admit its old and defeated for whatever reason or so you may feel like, trust me, nobody will be surprised. OR Start showing results. At least get the progress log up and running. I sat down and wrote this, and I believe many hate me even for just writing long replies (And you say -> I am bad <-). It does not take alot of effort. Example: "15.8.2007 - Car jumping through map bug fixed" That took me about 7 seconds to write. Scary! -

You should try putting yourself in the shoes of the community. You choose the easy way out by putting up a picture of some idiot running around with rockets around, so you wont have to explain that youre actually not doing anything useful (Yet again, prove me wrong). You ask me why I complain about the pictures. Isnt that obvius? If you call one picture pr. day news, then youre very lazy on the news section. You assume I'd whine on and on about "no release" even if I have news (wich I dont, by the way, a picture dont fall in the same category as "news" to me), but this assumption makes you no better then the ones you call "whiners". We assume the (socalled) "beta team" is full of hot steam, with reason, Id say. You've failed to come up with anything close to news in a long time, and even in the end of last summer, the "beta team" stated "beta release is close". I remember a topic where people complained (with reason as well) about your definition of "soon". You get pissed off at me and everyone like me, who questions these issues, but you fail to see it from our point of view. Now, I dont ask for a release date, even though I want it, I would NEVER trust you to hold it. NOR do I ask to play the unfinished game (at this state, wich you claim), that for all I know, and have seen/read, NEVER will be released. All I ask, is for 1 report every week or 14 days, written in about 200-300 letters, stating what the issues is, and what has been resolved, and how things are. Briefly said: status report. But of course, the "beta team" acts like this is a state secret, or too much trouble, or simply covering up the possibility that the beta is fucked up. -

I'm saying you're defending the people who told the community last summer "we're preparing for a beta release, just have to brush away the major bugs" The Beta Team is all talk and no action, and we all know it. Prove me wrong. Theres always talk about an "upcoming release" to string along the community in a false hope of there actually being a release. Yet again, prove me wrong. EDIT: And their total lack of being able to come up with some relevant and frequent news, just supports what I write here. I've stated several times, in several topics, that it shouldnt be so hard to write a 200-300 word "weekly report", (not detailed). -
I totally agree. There is a huge lack of news!

You're an arrogant, self-righteous, analphabetic idiot. OOO! Now I'm scared. EDIT: So if I were analphabetic, that would, in your eyes, make me less of a person? How discriminating can you get? Whenever the "BETA Team" posts a reply stating "ooo, we're so busy, la-di-da!", I think you're full of s-h-i-t! (And I reserve my freedom of speech to say so). Suuure, features is on hold, and you sure make it seem like it, posting pictures (ref. picture of the day), of a guy running around in what you seem to call a rocket war or something. I cant remember that being standard in GTA:SA. Ok, lets say for a minute you're not full of hot steam, and you got all these people working on this (in wich "working" wouldnt be my word), then how hard can it be to post some news?!?! There must be a guy that co-operates this team, and makes it all go smoothly, knowing just about what every part of the team is doing, so why this guy cant write a news section just about once a week stating the progress of your "programming" "scripting" "mapping" (While everyone probably would settle with the original GTA:SA map with no pedestrians, like half a year ago). And if someone is going to say that would be boring, go eat s-h-i-t. Everyone knows there could be later verisions with more maps and features out. But, in lack of news and information, I will just assume the "Beta Team" wants to add as many useless features as possible to stretch out time indefinently. Until someone can give me some news updates and/or a temporary release date. -Impervium

Learn proper english, and stop sucking up to the "developers". You know, you saying "its made by the tester", sounds to me like just another excuse, and you, nor anybody else, seem to be able to get that into your head (besides the people who's also sick of waiting for something that will never come). I'd want to see results and not more excuses. For all those who sucks up to the developers, stop trying to argue against me until someone can tell me straight why this isnt out yet, and features keeps getting added. And I wont be told a dumb excuse. Of course, now I will have countless replies of people not having a clue either, like the one above me here, whos not a part of the MTA team, but still, sucks the weiners of the MTA Team, being their self appointed defender. And to the other guy: Yodaa: You obviously forgot the 2 first words. You stated "Grand Theft Auto", ergo, you think Grand Theft Auto is a strictly car game. Grand Theft --> wops? someone forgot.. it was actually possible.. once upon a time... to steal your own car.. a car of your choice.. whenever you wanted to.. whatever car you felt like stealing.. Smartass. Think before you write. And to the MTA Team, you keep dissapointing us. Hell freezes over before DM is out, now SA is old news thanks to your retardness. -Impervium

If you read the start of the topic, where I clearly state, I have taken alot of "staying away for a few months", and nothing has been happening. Only a MTA:SA:Race mod, that practically raped everything GTA is famous for. The freedom to do what you want, when you want, where you want. Making it into a bad cargame ruined GTA as I know it. And I remember last spring, they had alot of heat, since alot of users in the community was irritated over the long waiting, and the community asked "it does not need to be perfect for it to be released!" And the team answered "its ready soon, we only need to brush away the biggest bugs.." A year went, and to me it does'nt seem like were any closer today. The news are barely coming out, and GTA IV is out. Me, and this whole community have been waiting for things to happen. I wouldnt be surprised if someone actually bought the game just to experience MTA:SA:DM. You're overlooking the point that this project made the community think (falsly? prove me wrong) that they would release a multiplayer verision of GTA:SA. And they've yet to prove it. No matter if they get payed or not, after all this time they practically owe the community some results after stringing people along for years. Personally, I wouldnt be surprised if this is never coming out. To me, it looks like theyre all talk, and no action. They love putting in new features instead of actually releasing something playable. I would bet, if I was a beta tester, I would spend my day finding bugs in the new releases instead of the multiplayer engine itself. And I bet this is what you call "all our hard work." Of course, since you NEVER release any information about your work, and your progress, you can state anything you want, wich you have been too, for years! "Programming takes time" "Bugtesting takes time". Everyone, MARK --> EVERYONE <--, knows the best way to get a beta tested, is to release it, even an alpha. I'd play it even if it crashed after 5 minutes, and send whatever crashlog in to the developers. But of course, they love to keep it to their own little community of friends, cuz its probably so pisspoor built it will never get released. So all we got is a bunch of idiots driving boats in high waves and shoting some rockets at eachother, making rockets around the militarybase, who the fuck cares?!?! If I could sit down and actually play a game without the waves, the rockets and all that shit, like MTA:VC only for San Andreas, with a better sync then SAMP, then I'd be happy. But of course, these developers hasnt come to the conclusion that "time is of the effort" and "what people want is what you get". Instead they play their own little shitgame and whenever someone asks questions about it, they whine about it taking time to program, script, whatever, and the beta testers "sweating their ass off", Yea, I'm sure the beta testers are burning alot of calories sitting their ass in the chair bugtesting your new features, being added every fucking day. I'd be surprised if this ever comes out. But it does'nt. And as I said before: Prove me wrong, shitfaces. -Impervium

I'd love to see something more then "planning an upcoming release". You've been saying that since the end of last summer, when you only had to "brush away the major bugs for a beta release". Prove me wrong. You're all talk, and no action.
-
Well, I'm going to put an answer to the answer, from a fan's view, since some may have lost perspective once they became member of the MTA team.. I said "may". Thats easy for you to say, you're already playing it. I dont think this community want more pictures after all this time, I dont want pictures, I want to see that the MTA Team actually can make something happen with San Andreas, besides the MTA:Race, that ruined the whole GTA feeling of being able to do what you want, that GTA was built on, and made GTA popular. I'm not saying there should be a release TOMORROW, but this team has become VERY cheap on the news section, instead, there is "picture of the day" posting what seems to be more and more useless features. I dont really care if a chopper chops me up on hitting the rotorblades, or not, I just want to see a result. To me, and I'm sure many others as well, it seems like you keep adding features to make it all coool and flashy, and wont release until the game WITH the featuers are tested out. Ever heard of releasing something, and adding more features later? Seriously, I dont think people want to wait 2 years for "waves on the sea" to be perfected, or a fricken howercraft. I would actually prefer having a mod crash on me every 15 minutes then no mod at all. I forgot to say this before: The community/public have seen no _real_ results besides the race mod, and that mod is a disgrace. I would settle for whatever verision you may have now, even if it crashed ever 5 or 15 minutes, thatd be 5 or 15 minutes more playing than you've given us for the last couple years. I dont care for what you call "polishing": last summer, I remember a member of the MTA Team wrote on the forum "we're done soon, we're just polishing off the big bug for a soon upcoming release". You know what? The MTA Team can just about now say whatever they want, they've lost the faith of the community, and are still trying to hide behind "programming/scripting takes time", and considering most people in the community dont know either, (or whats left of the community), these sounds like excuses just about a year ago, and today theyre just pathetic. You know what I'd settle for, that you havent thought of? "Weekly update" Written, 200-300 words of the weekly progress (if there still is any). You've lost the faith and respect of the community by not just semi-promising a beta or semi-public beta, but your news section sucks. You say you're straightening out bugs, but theres no news saying (example) "20.6.2007: Fixed "Car-In-Water-Crash-Bug" "This took testers a great amount of time to fix, due to one tester having experienced the bug, and the others having to recreate it, it took several attempts to do so." Even though, I'm sure Id settle with the verision you got on your comp right now, but yet again, as you see, its not just me who thinks you will never release anything, look at the answers above yours. People have lost faith in you, and its no-ones fault but yourselves. -Impervium
