Our next major build is coming along nicely, so we are keen to let you guys into the action ASAP.

You probably already know this from our previous news post, but the main highlight of MTA:SA 1.5 is the introduction of the scriptable ingame web browser components. These allow you to do some interesting stuff, ranging from displaying a simple browser window ingame, getting it to display a YouTube video, to rendering a webpage over a certain object ingame. We use a Chromium/CEF for this, so it should be good enough for all your web browsing needs.

Check out the video below for some examples of its usage:

This Release Candidate is naturally incompatible with older MTA:SA versions (including MTA:SA 1.4.1), so you will only be able to test it on servers which are also running the 1.5 RC. We intend to keep the compatibility with the final version of 1.5, but this might not be possible to do, should we need to make some major changes in it.

Thanks.

Hello. I'm a developer of a server and currently I'm busy making another gamemode which is almost ready for public release. I haven't done the interface yet (won't take long though), so I'm thinking about waiting for 1.5 in order to make an HTML-based one. Is it worth waiting by delaying the gamemode release? I know asking for ETAs is not polite, but in this case I think it's an exception. Are there approximate dates? Thanks.

I'm just wondering and I couldn't find it anywhere on wiki, is it possible to call Lua functions (or trigger events) from javascript?

No, it isn't and won't be as iframes don't isolate entirely. The difference between local and remote mode is described here: https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/CE ... emote_mode

Anything else than the Chromium/CEF added?

(Even though this list is incomplete yet)

Asking since I've heard some rumors about the ability of adding your own custom objects into MTA after the 1.5 update.

I don't know what you mean exactly. But in case you mean adding new IDs: No

Sadly CEF doesn't want to work in Wine

CEF/Chrome/Chromium is not supported (see here: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=8177).

As Wine is bad in terms of the anticheat anyway, Wine support may be dropped soon entirely. Moreover, VMWare normally provides better performance than Wine anyway, so I'd suggest you to switch from Wine immediately.

Thanks, will try it soon. What's recommended OS for running MTA in VMWare?
