Even though GTA3 and GTA: Vice City are playable online for such a long time now, there are still alot of people who have no idea that this mod exist. This advertisement of IGN really helps alot when it comes to advertising. Thank you IGN. :D

W000t . Go MTA . Now this should get some attention from the "big people"

How a small group of dedicated people that can do a MUCH better job than a paid bunch of lazy fat dudes . And this small group of people does it for free , i wonder how much the TC people got paid to do multiplayer ...

I bet the people at TC are kicking themselves in the ass!

, you seem to be getting more and more recognition every month.

out of curiosity, has this mod earned you any "tangible" rewards yet? im not talking money alone, but job offers , women, free stuff etc

its true... the mod pretty much spreads by word of mouth, and has reached a stage where most major websites know or have heard of the mta project for vc - and are probably all keeping up to date with its progress

Great to see the comparisons in the reviews though

on another note -you think the TC crew might have taken a note from our mod on what/what not to do (im really hoping R* take note =)

They spend a ****-load on that MP, when ours is free and still has a way to go

bad luck those of you who bought TC for mp, go buy VC AND GTA3 (for 0.4) instead.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Commercialisation tends to stifle innovation as companies turn to "safe" ways of making money. The MTA team have no deadline and so don't have to cut corners. Also, they're doing it because they love doing it rather than getting paid to do something they care nothing about.

If a man who wore a wedding dress and put the picture on the wedding dress auction on EBAY (which got very popular) had 3 marriage proposals, I'm sure the MTA team has probably gotten 1 or 2 :P

LMAO. C'mon Bump, tell us how many times you've had chix hit on you after you told them you're an MTA dev :D.

BTW I'm not askin eAi this, cause he'll just throw me a short reply with his name written in the end again. Say, you should change that to "I'm eAi bitch!"

Fun stuff (hopefully?) aside, I'd have to say it's amazing how much MTA's popularity has grown since the beginning of this year alone. Like I was following a torrent link to some french "abandonware" site yesterday and along with everythign else, I found an MTA section of all things! Seems those guys have their own gang, maybe a serv as well and have made a couple o' vids too. FKS or something I think they're called. Funky if ya ask me...

Why is this man a "celebrity"? His only claim to fame is that he wore a wedding dress. It's not exactly much to write home about really, is it?

Anyway, back on topic:

I got the impression that IGN wasn't particularly popular (especially since Gamespy's acquisition of it), or am I completely wrong?

Anyway, regardless of how popular it is, any recognition, however small, is good (hey, a record number of commas in one sentence :D).

Actually, I registered my GameSpy a few years ago.

Back when it was a lifetime subscription for only one payment of $20.

I notice now they charge $5/month for Registered status, and I still have mine after one payment of $20... :D:D:D

But IGN started charging before GameSpy bought them out.

(I didn't even know GameSpy bought them... )

Well, something like that anyway.

What annoys me about Gamespy is that they give you loads of features - yeah, pretty good value for money, but all I want to do is pay a small fee for getting rid of the ads, not a large one for stuff I don't want or need.

(If that makes sense)
