Removal of old Windows support for upcoming MTA 1.7 release

Due to security and operational reasons, we must announce that the upcoming Multi Theft Auto 1.7 release will not support Windows 7/8/8.1.

We recommend that users still running these versions of Windows upgrade to Windows 10 or later, or switch to a Linux based operating system (using Lutris, Wine, etc...).

Right now, even the most poorly optimized games run better than MTA. Seriously, the fact that games like Cyberpunk or even MindsEye perform better than MTA means something is seriously wrong. Please, don't punish people for speaking the truth, and stop spouting lines like "we're a small group doing this for free" - that doesn't calm anyone down and it just makes you guys look bad in people eyes. Claiming you're doing it for free doesn't mean anything when the game worked fine in older versions and the new ones have terrible optimization. From what I've observed, the last truly good version was build 23324. Newer ones have performed progressively worse, and that’s impossible to ignore.

Wait till Microsoft ends support for Windows 10 (my PC can't run Windows 11), and they will immediately probably end support for Win 10 too with MTA lol. Hopefully it's not going to happen because I'll be at big pain to buy this ai-powered crappy WIN 11-asswipe :~, first thing am going to do is i'm going to debloat it.

Anyways problems still persist, and they don't bother to release 1.7 quickly I guess, or at least demo 1.7 version for official use because you need to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait on GitHub till they first check pull requests, then fix bugs from pull requests yada yada yada, GTA VI will release and this :~ will not drop lol.

MTA won’t even launch for me on Windows 11, and I’m not the only one having issues. Other players are also reporting stability problems, so something definitely feels wrong with MTA nowadays. It’s honestly sad to see the game in this state.

I have a great solution: Switch to SAMP. There's no server list, but if you just want to play at any servers for fun, don't bother playing this game and just find an other client that display servers on SAMP -MTA is full of stability bugs right now. It also overloads my disk with garbage-ass :~ that I need to hunt and delete like pre-cache bull:~. If i'd do an event on MTA or something I'd redirect people for MTA 1.5 or MTA 1.4 - last good version. You know what's more annoying? There's a glitch with opening existing race maps in map editor - if you open them, they are empty - no checkpoints, objects, sometimes it loads objects but never checkpoints. That :~ exists FROM MTA 1.3 - but it still worked sometimes if you'd cheese it sometimes by restarting map editor couple of times I could get through that - but now you can't EDIT any of those classic maps, moreover - there's a weird bug that has been introduced to that 1.6 version as well, that classic maps have small checkpoints for some reason now, while they even written in the old format had original big sized checkpoints in MTA 1.5 - what the 😮 is exactly going on? LOL

And Wafel, try opening any existing race map in MTA map editor - it will not load checkpoints or any objects and it will be hard to edit, but it will play normally on RACE gamemode, while other gamemodes you can edit maps, see objects, etc. Once MTA devs told me that I'm dreaming and they can't replicate this problem. 😮 me. Stubborn ass people. Former dev KWK was right, and I'll tell it everytime: Those youngsters don't know what they are doing

Please try out this version of MTA https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.7-untested-26702-20260711.exe and see if that launches on your PC.

A recent issue with Windows 11 was resolved - https://github.com/multitheftauto/mtasa-blue/issues/4953#issuecomment-4942444632
