  1. Hi there,

it has been a while I played MTA but I got the itch again and decided to install the latest version.

Problem is that 3 out of 4 times I will get a "connection timed" out message when trying to connect to any server.

Sometimes I just wait for a while and then I can join. Another weird thing that happens is when it fails to connect to a server, right after that my firefox isn't able to reach any site. At the same time I can still refresh my server list.

I know that this might lead you to think that my internet is just spazzing out. The thing is that it only starts spazzing out when I try to join an MTA server - firefox just dropping out never happened to me before I had MTA installed. And it always happens, like clockwork, when I've tried to join an mta server to no avail.

Here's the diag info - I hope this wasn't to rambly, I find it hard to explain.

  2. Nice release mta.. Damm you i was going to start playing vG alot more b4 the release so i can get a house before evry1 else nicks um :( I guess you've made that harder for me lol.. And i aint no where near finished my rpg.. but still, awsome :D

The people that dont player nightly will have a nice suprise =]

When they are all nicked more will be added. We can add them ingame anyway.

  3. It's all about getting good vantage points and picking the right weapon for the right situation. Slick stuff like luring them after you and dropping a nade behind a corner helps alot as well :P

  4. I think this would be a great opportunity to reinstate signatures. We are at the crossroads of bringing the MTA community back to life. Signatures where people can represent their server in, or whatever aspect of MTA they want to promote, can contribute to weaving a new fabric for the community.

Of course size restrictions have to be set up.

  5. I had this idea awhile ago and might have told it sometime but I'm not sure if I did or not. My idea for a RP server to make it interesting was -

    - players are part of different gangs (ie. 6 gangs of ten players per gang per se) who make money doing different tasks (maybe doing different jobs or the like)

    - all gangs start with a 'barebones' base at a location of their choice and after gang members get enough money, they are able to purchase different base components to make the base stronger (different grade walls, traps, man-controlled SAM sites, etc.)

    - when bases are built up enough, some players can play offence and attack while some players stay back at the base and play defence

This is just a thought, even though it might or might not solidify into anything.

Sounds more like a TDM, but sounds great!

  6. In my opinion, switching to dm client, if that was to be done, would have to factor in:

    * Be a stable version ie, not development releases full of bugs

Since we (vG MTA RP) have been running an rp server on the latest nightlies for a few months allready we can attest that MTA is stable. Our server peaks at 50-80 players every day without any problems. All this with a juicy 44k line script.

  7. Is the Vahalla server going after MTA SA 1.0 is released, to MTA SA 1.0 or will it keep at the nightly builds? I think that should be a big mistake that they keep at the nightly builds, they are already second at the biggest MTA server, if they go to the normal MTA, they will be for sure first, and the server will be all the time 60/70+ :D

Correction, since yesterday we are the biggest =)

    Link

And of course we'll be releasing on MTA 1.0 as soon as it's finished. Which I hope is soon :)

I also hope the playerlimit will be increased in future releases, so we can pass SAMP ranks :P

  8. I can understand robhol's point to an extend. I can imagine DM is more intensive, faster paced and more suitable to check things like weapon synchro and shizzle. But I can also imagine that roleplay servers use a different array of functions and maybe put a heavier load on a server? These are just a few gists, I'm in no way educated in scripting or anything of the sort.

Furthermore though, even if DM would have been a better choice to check certain things, I still see this as a good "marketing" move from the MTA team. This beta has raised awereness drastically of the endless possibilities that MTA can offer for pure roleplay servers. We all know that SAMP gets most of his playerbase from the rp servers that are filled to the brim, this is why MTA has made a killer choice in appealing to the roleplayers. Before the betatest vG peaked at 25 - 30 players every day, and bare in mind, this on a nightly! Right now vG peaks at 50 - 55 players every day so there is clearly a big demand for pure roleplay on MTA. Flocks of SAMP followers from LSRP & vG are coming over to the MTA side and it will not be long before other communities will follow vG's example.

You don't like roleplay? No worries, people who roleplay like to take a break from it once in a while. I myself used to be on robhol's DM server every day. So it's not only roleplay servers that will benefit on MTA. I'm sure that MTA will finally get the playerbase it always deserved.
