I'm having an issue validating my serial on CachyOS (Arch-based Linux). Every time I try to enter MTA, I receive the following error:

"There was a problem validating your serial"

I have already followed the official troubleshooting steps, but the problem still persists.

What I have already done:

• Installed and started MTA Server 1.6 directly on my host machine (CachyOS Linux x64), NOT inside a virtual machine.

• Fixed the libtinfo.so.5 dependency by creating a symbolic link to libtinfo.so.6.

• The server starts correctly and connects to the Master Server.

• Connected locally via 127.0.0.1, and the server logs my connection.

• When I try authserial VKDELAS, it says:

  "No serials require authorization"

• Generated an HTTP password using:

   

  authserial VKDELAS httppass

  but the old authorization link returns 404 Not Found, so I couldn't complete the validation process.

🖥 System Details:

• OS: CachyOS (Arch-based Linux x64)

• MTA Version: 1.6

• Account Name: VKDELAS

Is manual serial authorization still possible?
Or is there a new validation page/process that I should use?

I recently set up my Linux server for running MTA, and everything was working fine until recently. Today, I noticed that the console reports that certain ports are closed due to the firewall, even though running ufw status confirms that the firewall is ok and allow por.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or can suggest what might be causing this discrepancy? Any insights or troubleshooting advice—from checking firewall configurations to potential issues within MTA—would be greatly appreciated.

The mta ase configuration is set to 1. 

There are also no firewall blocks or any type of filter with the hosting. It works well for the "favorites" and "recent" lists. 

The only problem is with the internet list. 

When I change the server's IP and turn on the same server, it appears normally. The problem is that for the specific IP, it has been waiting for the toplist for a long time. It hasn't arrived yet, but I didn't want to waste all that time waiting in the toplist queue. What could it be?

I am currently setting up an MTA server on Linux, and I've encountered an issue with a missing dependency related to libncursesw5. Specifically, the server requires version 5.1 of libncursesw.so.5, but this version is no longer available in modern Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian.

The Problem:

• The MTA Linux server depends on the libncursesw5 library, specifically version 5.1 (as indicated by the required NCURSESW_5.1.20000708 symbol). However, most modern Linux distributions only provide newer versions of the library, such as libncursesw6.
• We attempted to create symbolic links and manually install various versions of libncursesw to work around the issue, but the MTA server still fails to start, stating that it cannot find the required libncursesw.so.5.1.

Why is This a Problem?

• The specific 5.1 version of libncursesw5 is no longer officially available in current repositories, and this makes setting up the server difficult or even impossible on up-to-date Linux systems.

Suggested Solution:

• Documentation: If updating the library is not feasible in the short term, could you provide an official guide or documentation explaining how to install the correct version of libncursesw5 on modern Linux distributions?

I have a local network home server (192.168.0.4) for storage and other service server running. On this server I run Ubuntu server with CasaOS. I recently made two custom flask apps, one for a XAMPP manager and one for an MTA Server Manager so I can easily have a web UI on two different ports. I setup everything successfully, I could run and join to an FTP server from my main desktop PC (192.168.0.122) or laptop, manage MTA servers correctly, start and stop them, join them, open and run phpMyAdmin. But when I got to the part to run the MTA server on the server PC, and setup the MySQL database connection I run into an issue regarding linux.

When I start the server on my desktop PC, but still use the server PC to run the Apache, MySQL and FTP, I can successfully connect to the MySQL server running on my server PC.

I already had OpenSSL installed when I checked the version, but also my version is 3.0 something. I was looking on many forums on how to get OpenSSL 1.1.1 as the error message requires but I didn't find any easy solutions apart from building from source and many complicated commands which I am not sure how to revert if it doesn't solve the issue.

I downloaded some .deb file from ubuntu archive and istalled it via a forum post but I don't remember which one was it, because at first I got an error message saying that the libssl.so1.1 directory didn't exist or something similar, that's why I then tried to install that but then realised I have a newer OpenSSL version. I didn't even know I will have to f*ck around with OpenSSL for the sake of MTA SA MySQL database handling, nor I had to do this previously - well previously I didn't use MTA Linux Server on linux either.

Does anybody have any suggestions how could I possibly solve this issue so I am able to run the linux version of MTA server on my home network Ubuntu linux server alongside the XAMPP / LAMPP  Apache MySQL and FTP servers? I followed the tutorial on the MTA SA Linux Server Tutorial page.

This is currently the only thing keeping me away from finishing what I've been wanting to do for a long time for a home network MTA development environment to be able to store and access and edit the server files on a separate server PC from various other devices.

I am planning on releasing the flask apps for the XAMPP and MTA server managers later on in case anybody needs something similar, or also it could be used as good templates if you want to create docker images from it or so on, however the code may not be production ready but will be free to use and adjust.

Before trying to run MTA 1.0.X on a 64bit Debian system ensure that you have read and done this:

Thanks to MaddDogg for the great tutorial.

It is possible to run MTA 1.0.5 with the 32bit emulator on a 64bit Debian Squeeze system by my own experience.

Since several users had problems running the MTA MySQL module by ryden I decided to make this small tutorial as extension to the one made by MaddDogg.

Requirements:

You need a 64bit Debian Squeeze (6.0) system with a 32bit emulator and basic knowledge of linux systems. If you've read MaddDogg's tutorial you will know what I mean. It is required to have the MySQL module by ryden in the "modules" folder and added to the mtaserver.conf. You also need a SFTP protocol supporting FTP program to upload those files (FileZilla).

The Problem:

People that have a linux system with 64bit Debian Squeeze and the 32bit emulator aren't able to run the MySQL module by ryden. This is the the error message written into the server logs when the server starts.

MODULE: Unable to find modules/mtamysql.so (libmysqlclient.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)! 

This means that the MySQL module is looking for a library (libmysqlclient.so.15) that does not exist in our system. As I started to search for that file in my system I found a pretty similar file called "libmysqlclient.so.16" in /usr/lib. That means ryden's module is looking for an old library that does not exist anymore in Debian Squeeze. To solve this problem we need the 32bit library from a Debian Lenny (5.0) system. Fortunately I still had a 32bit Debian Lenny (5.0) VPS running so I could find that file easily.

Uploading the Files:

First of all I am sorry that I didn't find a way to download the file via SSH to your server. Instead we will use the SFTP protocoll. First of all ensure that you have a user with full access to the system files on your system (default user is: root). Now open your FTP program (in this case FileZilla) and type in:

Server: <Your server IP> 
User: root (if you didn't disable the root login) 
Password: <Your password> 
Port: 22 

Now you are logged in into your root server via SFTP protocoll and you are able to move/edit/upload/download/delete files. After that browse the the directory /usr/lib32 on your server that contains all 32bit libraries.

After that you have to download the following file to your PC:

This is the old 32bit library that is needed in order to run the MySQL module by ryden. Now simply upload the downloaded file by using your FTP program to the /usr/lib32 folder (FileZilla: Right click then "Upload").

Running the server

After you've done everything just start your server in known manner and the MySQL module should work properly.
